WEBSITE - PAGE 1 PLAN

ROUGH SKETCH:

For the homepage I wanted to create a modern look and overall aesthetic but with a news-centric layout and style. The background will be a darker grey-blue in order to make the white text stand out and appeal to the house style of my magazines, giving a contemporary feel to the page in order to identify with a forward-thinking young audience.

the header will consist of the same bold white masthead that appears on the magazines and when clicked will take you back o the homepage from my second page. there will also be a search-bar and social bar in white. The page menu will be in the same base font that appears on the magazine in white, but is darkened when hovered over and the house style red when you are on the page.

The first thing that grabs the audience's attention is the slideshow just below the header, consisting of editorial shoots relating to real world stories. The first page of this will feature an unseen photo from the first magazine shoot and link to the second page of my website, behind the scenes. Tis slideshow will constantly be moving and feature the same primary and secondary fonts as seen in the magazines in order to maintain house style.

On the main section of the page, there is a large focus on news stories and making sure readers are able to access important stories to them, mainly consisting of sets of six images and headlines linking to current affairs articles. there will be a bar across each photo in various primary colours (maintaining the scheme of the first issue) depending on the topic of the article and how it coinsides with the image, any COVID-related articles will be in a yellow colour as it will stand out more for a 2020 audience.

Along the side, there will be a list of articles that are updated daily with important news for the day, the numbers beside them in the same font used in both contents pages of the magazines. This feature almost acts as a contents page for each day and what is most important to know in a rush for the TA. Below this, I intend to have a focus on the cover of the month (at this point, August) in the same style that the contents pages have a 'spotlight on' section in order to tie in nicely, along with a 'sneak peek' into the september issue somewhere on this page, either in the same format as the first cover, or below the articles in a second slideshow.
