WIRED STYLE MODEL (COVER)
COVER: MARCH 1994
This cover is where I draw inspiration for my first issue. Though an older copy, it very much draws upon a similar aesthetic and house style that lies within the inspiration and intertextuality behind my first cover. The visual effects over the image create a distorted feel, which I can use to simultaneously subvert the typicalities of the Current Affairs genre for a younger audience whilst also playing to the intertextuality of Euphoria with my images. The effects create an editorial style and plays well with bright neon colours in the typography. These Neon colours play well against the darker background along with complementing the white typography with more impact, drawing your eye to the key words in the sell lines. This convention will play well against my original images and the overall aesthetic of the first issue.
Furthermore, the importance of lighting contrast within this cover further enhances the dystopian feel, playing off of the highlights of the subject in a way that creates dark space for typography. I will be using a similar low key lighting within my first issue in order to play off of alternative light sources.
Also, the minimalist approach to the sell lines creates a focus on the photography that I would like to replicate in my piece in order to focus on the intertextual links and editorial style that will inspire and creatively stimulate a younger target audience of young visionaries to want to read the magazine.
