EMPIRE STYLE MODEL (CONTENTS)

EMPIRE YOUGOV STATISTICS:

CONTENTS: JULY 2012
This contents page very much inspires the layout and design for my contents pages, as I was drawn to its incorporation of a full feature image as a background for the entire page.

Firstly, I will incorporate the layout of the masthead and it's surrounding text by using my feature font from the cover as 'contents'  whist using the normal masthead font for the smaller masthead and my base font for the date. However, instead of the 'contents' being the feature colour, it will be white, with the other text in a red on issue 001 and a pink on issue 002, going back to the cover's colour schemes.

Furthermore, I will incorporate the layout of the information below with the larger page numbers to the left followed by a coloured title and white description. I will also continue the style of using the 'contents' text as a sub-heading for each article, however I will change the colours to different neon lights in issue 001 and different flower colours in issue 002. Also, instead of having them in a vertical list, I will use the same format, however  work around featured parts of my photography, adhering to the editorial style of my magazine and bringing focus to the mise-en-scene, linking back to their respective covers.

I will also not incorporate the overlap of the image and text with the masthead, because unlike Empire, my magazine is brand new, so the house style of the contents page is not yet memorable enough to stand on it's own behind a person. Also, I don't have the star appeal of Anne Hathaway, so my model is not necessarily more important than the text, the same goes with this for the cover - the name of the magazine is more important than the model in order to establish a brand identity.
